AC Milan announced this morning that they will play a pre-season friendly against SK Rapid before embarking on their American trip. The game will be played on July 20 in Vienna.
There are only two Serie A matchdays remaining in the 2023-24 season, and while second place has been guaranteed, it has not been a memorable season, at least for the right reasons. Wounding defeats have been the story of the year, with Stefano Pioli’s stock continually losing value.
However, there is now a glimpse into the future, and there is plenty to be enthusiastic about. Pioli has laid excellent groundwork for the team’s future manager to build on. While nothing has been confirmed, Milan is thought to be nearing the ‘end of the soap drama’.
With this in mind, the search for a new manager is beginning, and anticipation is high for the summer, when the Rossoneri are anticipated to invest massively. The summer also allows the new manager to assess his players, and the squad has added another fixture to their schedule.
The club stated on their official website that they will meet SK Rapid before to their American fixtures. The seventh meeting between the two, last played in the 1973-74 season, will be significant because both clubs will commemorate their 125th anniversaries next year.
