Steph Curry is known for making seemingly impossible long-distance shots, but even he was taken aback by one particular moment in the men’s basketball final against France. With less than a minute remaining, Curry nailed a heavily contested three-pointer despite being double-teamed by NBA stars Evan Fournier and Nicolas Batum.
The shot was not only remarkable for its difficulty but also for its impact. It came when Team USA was leading by just six points, 93-87. Had Curry missed, France could have had a chance to narrow the deficit and make it a closer game.

Curry admitted that he was surprised by the successful outcome of the shot. While he was confident in his ability, the intense defense made him expect a miss. Reflecting on the moment, Curry said he was “impressed” with himself for pulling it off and creating a memorable play.
“Every shot you take, you think it’s going in… At the end of the day, all I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me… That impressed me. I impressed myself on that one too, for sure,” Curry shared.
This shot has become one of the standout moments of the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s basketball tournament and was a fitting highlight for Curry’s debut Olympic appearance, securing his first gold medal. The 36-year-old sharpshooter led Team USA with an average of 14.2 points per game and finished the game against France with 24 points, making all eight of his attempts from beyond the arc.
