Caitlin Clark’s reaction to Team USA’s women’s basketball team clinching the gold at the Paris Summer Olympics was notably absent. Unlike many in the WNBA community who congratulated players like Diana Taurasi and A’ja Wilson on their 67-66 victory over France, Clark has remained silent on social media, refraining from any posts on Twitter or Instagram regarding the win.
While Clark has previously stated that she harbors no resentment toward Team USA for her omission from this year’s roster, her lack of public acknowledgment has raised some eyebrows. After the WNBA All-Star Game last month, Clark praised the talent on Team USA, acknowledging their capabilities even without her presence.
“They’re really good. They have plenty of talent on that team. Four years prior I’m pretty sure Team WNBA beat Team USA, [and] they were perfectly fine in the Olympics,” Clark remarked. “If anything, it shows how good this league is. It shows how much talent is in this league and how you have to show up and prepare every single night. There’s a lot of players that aren’t even here tonight that could be here too. It just shows the amount of talent we have.”
Despite her diplomatic response, Clark’s absence from the Olympic roster might have been felt during the final game. The U.S. struggled with three-point shooting and ball control—areas where Clark excels.
