Fresh off her gold medal win with Team USA at the Paris Olympics, Griner returned to the court less than a week later and delivered a commanding performance for the Mercury in the WNBA’s resumption after a month-long break.
Reese, who had a challenging night, struggled to find her rhythm against Griner’s defense, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting. Despite a solid effort on the boards with 15 rebounds, she couldn’t overcome Griner’s dominance. Meanwhile, Griner shone with 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and those crucial five blocks.
