Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark made history once again on Wednesday night, setting a new WNBA rookie record for most three-pointers in a single season during the Fever’s 84-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun. Clark’s record-breaking 86th three-pointer came in the first quarter, surpassing the previous mark of 85 set by Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard in 2022.

Clark finished the game with a solid stat line, contributing 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting, including 3-of-12 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. She also added five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block, although she committed seven turnovers. Despite the turnovers, her overall performance was enough to electrify fans at the Fever’s home game.

This latest achievement adds to an already impressive list of records Clark has shattered in her rookie season. In addition to setting the WNBA’s all-time single-game assist record with 19, she has also claimed the rookie records for most assists in a season, most assists in an All-Star Game, and most three-pointers in a single game. Clark is also the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double and to reach career milestones of 400 points, 100 rebounds, and 150 assists.

With nine games remaining in the season, she is on track to break several more rookie records, including the total points record of 744 set by Seimone Augustus in 2006 and the point-assist double-doubles record of 11 held by Courtney Vandersloot since 2017, as noted by The Athletic’s Ben Pickman.

With the victory, the Fever improved their record to 15-16, placing them seventh in the WNBA standings.
