Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese are both top contenders for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award, but they’re not letting the race distract them from their main goal—winning with their teams.
As the superstar duo prepared for their final regular season showdown in Chicago, both Clark and Reese made it clear that individual accolades like Rookie of the Year aren’t their priority.
“I think Angel and I would both give you the same answer,” Clark told reporters before the game, according to IndySports’ Chloe Peterson. “We don’t wake up thinking about individual awards.”
Reese echoed this sentiment, telling reporters via the Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe, “We don’t really care about the Rookie of the Year. I think it’s something you guys have made into a big deal.”

Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale also suggested this week that the supposed rivalry between Clark and Reese isn’t as significant as it was made out to be earlier in the season.
While Clark is likely to take home the Rookie of the Year title after shattering numerous WNBA records, both players are set to have stellar careers regardless of how the award plays out.
