Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington didn’t hold back her frustration with Indiana Fever fans following a tough loss on Wednesday night. Carrington, who has a bit of history with the Fever and their rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, was visibly unhappy after Indiana snapped an 11-game losing streak against Connecticut, marking their first win over the Sun since 2021.
Carrington is no stranger to intense matchups with the Fever. In Clark’s debut WNBA game, Carrington was instrumental in playing lockdown defense and even made headlines for mocking Clark over perceived flopping. She also publicly called out Clark during a controversy involving some of Clark’s supporters, which Clark later addressed.
In their latest encounter, the tables turned as Clark and the Fever got the upper hand. Clark’s performance was highlighted by a pivotal three-pointer over Carrington, which not only contributed to the Fever’s 84-80 victory but also saw Clark break the WNBA rookie record for most three-pointers in a season. The game was filled with notable moments, including a sequence where Carrington attempted to quiet the crowd, only for Clark to drive past her for a crucial basket. Both players finished with 19 points each.

This isn’t the first time Carrington has spoken out online; she recently criticized the WNBA for not nationally televising the Sun’s historic sellout game in Boston against the Los Angeles Sparks.
While it’s unclear what exactly prompted Carrington’s reaction, her comments are sure to fuel ongoing discussions surrounding the rivalry between her and the Fever. Despite the tension, Clark and her teammates were all smiles after their hard-fought win.
