Dawayne Galloway, who initially committed to Purdue over schools like Kentucky, Syracuse, and West Virginia, has reopened his recruitment, putting Kentucky back in the mix.
“I have decommitted from Purdue after careful thought and consideration,” Galloway posted on social media. “Thank you to the staff and all involved. I am open to all programs interested in myself.”
Shortly after his announcement, Galloway revealed to KSR that several schools have shown interest, including Illinois, West Virginia, Kentucky, Penn State, Colorado, Miami, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
The Columbus, OH native is a four-star prospect and ranked No. 168 overall in the 2025 class. Kentucky has invested significant effort into recruiting Galloway, with associate head coach Vince Marrow extending an offer in September 2023. Kentucky was among his Top 12 in February and made it to his final four before he chose Purdue. The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback took both an unofficial visit in February and an official visit to Lexington in June.
Galloway previously told On3’s Chad Simmons that “Kentucky was on top for a long time” before his decision to commit to Purdue. He is also cousins with Purdue freshman tight end Tayvion Galloway. Despite his initial commitment, Kentucky remained in contention for Galloway, and the Wildcats are eager to land him before Signing Day.
Currently, Kentucky has 18 commits in the 2025 class, ranked 24th nationally. Galloway remains a priority target as the staff looks to add a few more pieces before wrapping up recruiting.
