Caitlin Clark has added another accolade to her remarkable debut season in the WNBA, breaking the Indiana Fever’s franchise single-season scoring record for a rookie. On Sunday, Clark surpassed the legendary Tamika Catchings on the Fever’s all-time rookie scoring list, claiming the top spot with a standout performance.
In a 100-93 victory over the Dallas Wings, Clark poured in 28 points, surpassing Catchings’ long-standing record. The former Iowa standout made history with a crucial shot, cementing her place as the franchise’s leading rookie scorer. The milestone was captured in a memorable video clip shared by the team.
Catchings set the previous record in 2002, scoring 594 points in her debut WNBA season across 32 games for Indiana. Clark, however, has blown past that total, amassing 617 points with seven regular-season games still left to play in 2024.
In addition to her scoring, Clark contributed 12 assists and four rebounds in the win over Dallas, showcasing her all-around game. Her efforts have propelled the Fever to a 17-16 record, placing them sixth in the league standings and on the brink of securing their first playoff appearance since 2016.

Tamika Catchings is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in WNBA history and the best to ever don an Indiana Fever jersey. Her illustrious career, spanning from 2002 to 2016, included 10 WNBA All-Star selections, a 2011 WNBA MVP award, and a championship victory in 2012, where she also earned Finals MVP honors. Known for her defensive prowess, Catchings was named WNBA Defensive Player of the Year five times and led the league in steals eight times. She also won the Rookie of the Year award in 2002.
